ANT/BLE to CAN Interface

Pilot-CAN V2.0 is a CAN bus interface with built in ANT and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) wireless monitoring for collection of physical (motion, force...), environmental (temperature, humidity...) and physiological data (heart rate, body temperature...). The system is designed to be used as a complement or replacement to the flagship Pilot-Mux.

Kit Contents

The Pilot-CAN is delivered ready to be used either with four wire tails or with one DE-9 ("9 pin serial port" style) connector that powers the unit and provides CAN connectivity.

The Pilot-CAN requires between 5V and 24V power connection and can be run directly off USB power or a car battery. It interfaces to the CAN bus and delivers driver data direct to the bus. All sensors, data rates and messages can be changed using a small but powerful Windows application; as supplied, or when reconfigured, the Pilot-CAN requires no user intervention.

Specifications

Dimensions 50mm x 50mm x 20mm
Weight 65 grams (plus connectors)
Required Power VIN = 5V to 24V
Consumption 50mA typ., 80mA max.
ANT ANT, ANT+ profiles (heart rate etc)
BLE Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth 4)
CAN Output 2.0B, ISO 11898, up to 1MHz

Data Channels

As standard, out of the box, the Pilot-CAN is configured as a heart rate interface and will deliver the following channels:

  • Heart rate
  • Heart rate variability
  • R-R intervals (if available from wearable)
  • Stress index
  • Energy/Calorie burn

It can easily be reconfigured for any other supported  ANT/BLE sensor to collect, for example, bike speed and cadence.
